Schools Linking Programme
This year, Year 4 will be involved in an exciting new project! Schools Linking provides an opportunity for children to link and work on a series of planned lessons to explore identity, celebrate diversity, promote community and champion equality and connect virtually with another class in Calderdale who they would otherwise not encounter.
The Schools Linking Programmes are rooted in research into what works in reducing prejudice in children and young people. They work with all kinds of schools including primary, secondary, special, community, faith, independent, academies and free schools. In response to the unprecedented circumstances created by the pandemic, Schools Linking offers a new, creative, digital model. Linking creates opportunities for self-reflection, empathy, critical thinking and a sense of confidence in engaging with others.
Here is a short video talking about the impact of Schools Linking. The Linking Network, made up of 29 Schools Linking programmes which run across the country, is backed by the DfE, DLUHC, Pears Foundation and The Dulverton Trust. We also support intergenerational linking with care homes and offer training and resources around SMSC.
Year 4 have been on a fantastic trip to Bankfield Museum as part of our School Linking Project initiative. The museum acted as a neutral venue for us to meet Year 4 from Savile Park. The day involved getting to know our linking partners, finding out about our similarities and interests, and taking part in a range of art and history activities!
